Serving Akron from Uniontown

Paramount Painting Solutions is based in Uniontown and serves Akron with residential and commercial painting, inside and out. In CommunityVotes Akron 2025, Paramount Painting received Gold in the Painting category.

Akron has every kind of painting project, from a bedroom in a family home to a full exterior repaint or an office suite with customers coming and going. Each one starts with a different conversation. This page helps you get ready for yours. For more detail on the work itself, see interior painting, exterior painting, residential painting and commercial painting. The photos here come from Paramount’s project gallery and are not labeled as Akron jobs.

Decide what the job includes

Most estimate surprises come from scope rather than price. Two people can both say “paint the living room” and mean very different jobs. Before the visit, it’s worth deciding what “done” looks like.

Inside: count the surfaces, not just the rooms

Write down each room, then list what you want painted in it: walls, ceiling, baseboards, window and door trim, doors, closet interiors. Hallways and stairwells that join two floors are easy to leave off the list, and a stairwell wall is often taller than it looks from the landing.

Then think about how the house will work while the painting is underway. Which rooms do you need every day? Is there furniture that is staying put? Would you rather finish one floor before starting the next? Those answers shape the order of the work as much as the paint does.

Outside: go around the house one side at a time

Stand at each side of the house and name the parts you want included: siding, trim, soffits and fascia, porch ceiling and columns, doors, shutters, railings, and the garage. Note anything you want left exactly as it is, such as brick, stone, or a front door you just refinished.

Take a close photo of any peeling or blistering paint, then step back and take a wider one that shows the gutter, roof edge, or window above it. If a surface stays damp, that needs to be dealt with before it’s repainted; Sherwin-Williams explains how moisture behind a coating can cause it to fail. You don’t need to diagnose the cause yourself. The photos give the estimate visit a starting point.

Is your building an Akron landmark?

Most Akron homes and businesses are not designated landmarks, but some are. The City of Akron’s Urban Design and Historic Preservation Commission reviews requests for certificates of appropriateness to alter or raze structures listed as local historic landmarks. It also reviews applications to designate buildings and districts.

The commission’s page doesn’t say anything specific about paint, so don’t assume either way. If your property is a designated local landmark and the project changes how the outside looks, ask the city what needs review before you settle on a scope. Let us know about the designation during the estimate too, so the timing allows for it.

Painting an Akron business

Paramount’s commercial work includes offices, service buildings, and larger facilities. Our gallery has examples ranging from an office accent wall to a gymnasium and an aquatic facility. In a building that stays open, the plan has to work for the people inside it.

Start with a floor plan, even a hand-drawn one. Mark the entrances customers use, the rooms that can close for a day, and the areas that must stay open. Add your business hours and any days that are especially busy. If the work can be done in sections, say which order makes the most sense for you.

If you lease the space, ask the property owner whether they have requirements for contractors, colors, or access before the scope is settled. In a shared building, find out who handles common areas, such as lobbies, stairwells, and exterior walls. Our commercial painting page covers more about planning work in occupied spaces.

What to send for your Akron estimate

Start with the property address. For a business, include the suite number and the entrance to use. Then add:

  • A wide photo of each room or exterior side you want painted.
  • Close-up photos of any damaged, peeling, or stained areas.
  • The surfaces to include, especially ceilings, trim, doors, and the garage.
  • Anything to leave untouched, and any landlord, association, or landmark requirements you know about.
  • Dates you’re working around, such as a move, an event, or a busy season.

Not sure whether to do everything at once or in stages? Tell us, and we can talk through the options at the estimate. Paramount provides free estimates for residential and commercial painting in Akron. You can send your project details online or call (330) 354-9995.
